The "Grand-carers and Youth Initiative" is a project that was auspiced by DAISI. It is designed to support grandparents who are primary carers through the provision of resources, resilience building activities, and the establishment of support groups. Our aim is that these grandparents will become more resilient through being visible, supported, involved, connected, heard and respected.

Further, the project aims to support young people living independently to complete their high schooling, connect with community and build life skills that may empower them to avoid connecting into the drug culture. An innovative trial program is being implemented at Nimbin Central School.

Our work is supported by:

The  Ian Potter Foundation

The Department of Health and Ageing Illicit Drugs Strategy Community Partnerships Initiative

The Department of Motor Transport NSW

The Sidney Myer Foundation

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR)
